The Best Methods For Hair Removal at Home

Hair removal at home is the most common way to eliminate un-wanted hair. Your body hair is a very personal part of the body, and sometimes in undesired locations too. Unwanted hair is an issue that over 80% of both men and women face at some point in time. Getting the perfect, smooth, silky and hairless body is quite a complicated and time consuming task. Thankfully, there are several ways that you can get rid of your unsightly hair.

Shaving: The simplest and easiest way is shaving. Shaving simply removes hair from the external skin by cutting it off at the point of growth. Some quick tips for shaving:
  • Soften the hair and skin before shaving by getting in a warm shower for a minimum of 5 minutes
  • Allow for a closer and cleaner shave by exfoliating the desired area prior to shaving
  • Always use a good and trusted quality razor to avoid cuts and scrapes
Shaving is also the cheapest means of hair removal at home. A drawback however, is that shaving can get time consuming and you have to repeatedly keep doing it since hair grows back within days.
Hair removal creams: Using topical creams is another method of easy removal at home. It is also called as a depilatory, and it breaks down the hair above skin level, thereby making it easy for you to wipe off the hair. There are many reputed hair removal creams available in the market. However, always ensure that you perform a patch test before using a particular brand. Apply the cream on a small patch of skin to try it out. Remove the cream off instantly if you feel any kind of burning or itching sensation, and never leave it on for longer than as mentioned on the packet. Hair removal creams make for one of the quickest and easiest methods of removing hair.
IPL or laser hair removal is another method. Although most laser or IPL procedures need to be performed by professionals at a designated parlor, some companies do offer IPL devices that are approved by the FDA and are safe for self-use at home. The IPL or intense pulsed light devices that are available help in hair removal by impairing the growth of hair follicles. This is of course a permanent method of removal and can be slightly on the expensive side as well. However, using it only on light skin tones is one factor to keep in mind if using the laser or IPL method. Darker skin tones tend to get burns or blisters.
Removing facial hair: facial hair is indeed a nuisance, especially for women. However, it is also one of the easiest to get rid of with the convenient methods. Tweezing can be done to remove excess hair in the eyebrows. Waxing is another option to remove hair from the face, with several home waxing kits available.
